The Erotic Tapa

A tapa is, basically, a Spanish appetizer, snack, finger food, or canapé — although those labels really don't cover it. It's usually inexpensive, and it's very possibly unusual and delicious. The variety is endless.

Tapas bars and restaurants around Fuengirola are currently participating in the 6th Annual Route of the Erotic Tapa ("Ruta de la Tapa Erótica"). It's a competition among restaurants with prizes for the best erotic tapa. Patrons can pick up an "Erotic Tapa Passport," get it stamped each time they sample a tapa, and then possibly win some very nice prizes, as well.

We haven't made the rounds. I'm heading to New York Tuesday to visit The Dowager Duchess and The Kid Brother, so not enough time for that. Instead, we went Saturday night to Meson Salvador, our favorite local place for Spanish food, to see what they were offering. Not only was their erotic tapa charming (well, not to everyone perhaps), it was also delicious. Skewered shrimp, quail's eggs, and creatively applied fresh dill.

A TAPAS ORGY...
AND ONE FOR ME.
AS IF EROTIC TAPAS AND A MAIN COURSE WEREN'T ENOUGH,
WE ALSO HAD OBSCENELY DECADENT DESSERTS.
AND WE RECEIVED SOME VERY SEXY SERVICE
FROM ALEJANDRO AND SANTI.

Not that anyone cares, but I'm selling my pork chops...

We went to one other before I left, and Elena emailed a blurry shot to me from yet another place. Some true works of art...

  2. I loved coming home from Spain and telling our son we frequented many Tapas Bars. He was shocked until we explained we didn't mean "topless bars."

Too bad you didn't get to tell him about the tapas body parts you ate (I was going to say penises and vaginas, but didn't think that would be appropriate).

  4. I am shocked you mean they don't have Family tapas safe for kids. In Catholic Spain, what is the world coming to. You would never see that in Ottawa.

Catholic Spain is a lot more liberated than non-sectarian USA, too!

  5. Scandalous! Imagine if someone tried doing this in the States.

Our first thought. Children would not be allowed in the restaurants during the festival.

  6. Those tapas (is that also a plural?) should be very useful for when one wants some practice to perfect one's technique. (I modestly surmise).

You got the plural right. As for perfecting technique. Remember that was a SHRIMP. And QUAIL eggs. If we're lucky, they wouldn't be of much use.

  7. The dessert actually made my mouth water. Your tapas actually did not.

The tapas was incredibly delicious. If you close your eyes, you... well, never mind.

Some other places got very arty. One served a beautiful and delicious dish that was unrecognizable. Apparently it was a variety of nether regions "parts."

Yes, it was a bit confusing at first. But the shrimp didn't TASTE at all fishy.
