The Cats Say Miau

Speaking of brotherly love (click here if you don't already know how much I love my Kid Brother), The two brothers in our house, Musy (aka Moose) and Dudo, completely understand how I feel. Below is how they spent Sunday afternoon. (Click any image to feel the love.)

Another couple of cats. (Moose, especially, often sounds like this.)

Important Note: Miau is Spanish for Meow...

And San Geraldo spoils them terribly.

  2. Our MaxGoldberg and Tuxedo do the same thing; it's so cute.
But Musy and Dudo,. in a couple of those pictures, look like the Yin/Yang symbol!

I'm fascinated by how often they end up in identical positions.

  3. Very sweet boys. Enjoyed the music, too. Poor Max is the only cat for miles (except for the jaguars that come through now and then) but that doesn't stop her from miauing solo. Thanks for the kitty fix.

Dudo only makes little sounds when he wants to get on our laps (or he's waiting for his treats). Moose, on the other hand, is really talkative. Sometimes annoyingly so!

  4. Adorable. In the first couple of photos they look like a Rorschach ink blot test.

I love the second one where Dudo is staring intently into Moose's closed eyes. ("Are you awake? Pssst. Are you awake?)

  5. This is something my two (not related) will never do. They are always wary of each other, tolerating only at a distance. One won't even walk past the other if it means getting too close. They'd rather sit and wait for the other to move, though it might take hours. Mind you, having said that, they've never actually fought. So enjoy D & M's close kinship. I'm sure it's joyfully reassuring to behold when you see them in close proximity, perhaps touching and not minding it.

They sleep on top of each other. Unfortunately, they tend to have different sleeping/play schedules. Dudo will sometimes pounce on Moose to wake up and Moose will sometimes wander the house yowling for Dudo to wake up. The best of friends.

I don't know if you're talking about Russian Blue cats. We had one in before leaving the States and she was amazing.

  8. I wonder if it is unusual for two cat brothers to get on so well. I am sure they would not if they had not been neutered.

I have no idea if it's a normal thing. We had two brother cats (litter-mates like Dudo and Moose) in California who were also very close. But they were also neutered.

  9. Musy and Dudo are kindred spirits alright. They are adorable! They are like identical twins and know what the other needs and wants, I bet.

And like identical twins, they don't always give the other what he wants. They're an entertaining pair.

  12. My 'list' reminds me that it's H.B. time to you for today Tues, Mitch. So, in case you're not going to blog about it, M.H.R. to you - and if you're reading this on the very day, do have a particularly fine one.

You're a sweetheart. As you have already seen, I did blog about it and will send thanks from there. It was a very fine birthday... sans alcohol for me, which I'll blog about soon, too.

  13. You make me really miss living with cats (I'd say "own" but we all know better). One of the negatives about our lifestyle. Oh well... I can see those photos of your two and feel good. And... if "H.B." and M.H.R." means what I think... hope it's a great one!

I never had cats until 1996. Jerry grew up with them. I can't believe what I missed and am so grateful now. And, yes, it was (and still is) a great one!
