A Sloth In Spanish

Yes, it's still summer here on the Costa Del Sol. I was sloth-like Monday and Tuesday afternoon, so decided to go for a long walk Wednesday. But I forgot to wear my new cap.

So, I walked along the beach for about 15 minutes before turning into town where I could shelter at times in the shade of the buildings. The shade led me to Bioparc Fuengirola (the zoo), so I headed inside figuring I would continue to find shade under the lush vegetation. Of course, I found so much more. And most of the animals were finding ways to relax and cool off as well.

(Please, click the pics. You'll be glad you did.)

I'VE NEVER SEEN ONE OF THE "HOOFED" ANIMALS GET INTO THE WATER.
THE KOMODO DRAGON WAS A SLOTH.
SPEAKING OF SLOTHS, THAT'S PEREZOSO IN SPANISH.
I'M SO IMPRESSED WITH MY EXPANDING VOCABULARY!
AND THE IDIOT TRUMP THINKS HE HAS "A LOT OF WORDS."
PARADISE IN THE HEART OF FUENGIROLA.

THE ORANGUTAN (ORANGUTÁN IN SPANISH) IMAGES
ARE NOT GREAT BUT AREN'T YOU IN LOVE NOW, TOO?
WELL-SCHOOLED: LIKE THE "HOOFED" ANIMAL,
THE FISH DECIDED TO COOL OFF IN THE WATER, AS WELL.

Yesterday did get above 40C, but it's not as humid so real feel was only (supposedly) 37 (although, depending on where you were in town, it either felt like 32 or 48)!

Yes, and so much yuger than Donald's hands! (Have you read about the bronze casting of his hand at Madame Tussaud's in New York? So funny.)

  3. It's in times and climes like you're now experiencing that taking a siesta must be the sensible way to survive - for both man and beast.

Jerry takes a siesta every afternoon. I have been doing so more and more lately, but I always feel like I've missed something! Much more fun watching the animals sleep yesterday. Hope you're coping right now!

This is a new part of Bioparc that opened within the last two years. It's wonderful and there's now even more expansion going on. The komodo dragon has a wonderful space.

I rushed with photos of the orangutan. Wish I had taken my time. It was a joy. But I was busy being tour guide for two very nice English woman who had entirely missed the orangs!

I'm thinking of heading back again next week just to visit them. It sweetened the entire day.

  8. I so enjoy your excursions Mitch. What I like, like myself, you seem to find interest in everything...and dare I say like myself, I bet your always finding something new to explore...even in your own backyard. Enjoyed the pictures. I have always been mixed on zoo's. I feel for the animals being caged and on view for our pleasure viewing, but at the same time, for some of these creatures, it may be their only means to survive eventually. Not to mention where would we even ever have the chance to see some of them.
